Meet Tim Mahon, Founder of Great Lakes Watch Company
Tim Mahon’s love for watches began at the age of eight when his grandfather, Cyril Mahoney, gifted him an old Timex. That moment sparked a lifelong fascination with wristwatches that followed him through his childhood on Cleveland’s west side, his years at St. Ignatius High School, and later at The Ohio State University.
Though his degree was in a field unrelated to retail, Tim never stopped trading watches—starting at just 12 years old and accelerating with the rise of eBay and online communities. As his experience and collection grew, so did his vision.
In 2017, he launched Tim’s Timepieces, a part-time venture born of pure passion. By 2021, it evolved into Great Lakes Watch Company—a name that reflects not just where he’s from, but the depth of his commitment to clients across the country.
Today, Tim leads a small but dedicated team who share his enthusiasm for horology, craftsmanship, and outstanding customer service. He spends most of his day sourcing unique pieces, consulting with clients, and helping people find their grail watches—all while delivering personal service you won’t find at a big-box retailer.

Meet the Team
Brandon Gibson, Marketing & Brian Gibson, Watchmaker:
For three generations, the Gibson family has proudly served the watch and jewelry industry, blending tradition, precision, and passion. The story began with Gary Gibson, a master watch technician who spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy repairing timepieces with surgical precision. After his service, he dedicated himself to teaching watch repair and working on countless high-end brands, earning a respected reputation for his craftsmanship.
Brian Gibson, followed closely in his footsteps. Growing up in the business and trained by his dad “Gary” himself, Brian has become a highly respected watchmaker with decades of experience. With deep technical expertise, love for horology, and commitment to excellence have made a trusted name in the industry. Brian, also learned from a young age the skills to repair and make custom jewelry including setting diamonds, resizing rings, and grading diamonds all to help customers with anything they might need.
Brandon Gibson now helps carry the torch as the third generation. Recently graduated magna cum laude from Muskingum University with majors in business, marketing, and economics, but his true education began long before college. Raised in the world of watches and jewelry, surrounded by the tools, traditions, and techniques passed down through the family. From a young age,he developed a sharp eye for detail and a deep appreciation for craftsmanship. In addition to his growing expertise in watch repair and refinishing, Brandon brings a modern edge to our family business by capturing professional-grade photos that highlight the quality, detail, and artistry of fine timepieces. Every piece has a story–and it’s our mission to help tell it, preserve it, or create it from scratch.

I specialize in delivering exceptional, personalized service to a discerning clientele, ensuring every interaction reflects the sophistication, precision, and heritage of the timepieces we offer.
With a deep-rooted passion for horology—as well as fine jewelry and designer handbags-I bring a refined understanding of luxury and an unwavering commitment to excellence.
My background spans customer service, financial risk mitigation, and compliance, equipping me with a well-rounded skill set to support both client satisfaction and business integrity.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, I continue to expand my expertise to better serve our valued clients and uphold the standards of the luxury brands present.
